1960s Nostalgia on Film.

George Robson (FN 57-64) has recently had produced several copies of a DVD ‘St Bees in the 1960s – Scenes and Characters at St Bees School in 1962, 1963 and 1964’, which was originally taken and created by Richard H. Taylor
(FS 59-64).

A piece written in 1999 by Richard explains how the film came about: “When I was approaching the end of my time at St Bees, my father urged me to take some cine film around the school. As an Old St Beghian himself (John H. Taylor – F 22-26) he was keen to have some cinematic record of the school. I’m afraid I was neither very assiduous nor technically proficient in doing so, but I did take some sequences of particular events, which bring back memories of those far-off times, and, as well as boys, glimpses of well-remembered characters who in various ways shaped our lives in those distant days…”

The film is about 29 minutes in duration and was originally shot on 8mm colour cine film.

George has made available ten copies of the DVD, free of charge, along with a written contents sheet describing some of the scenes captured.
